Black icebergs is icebergs who have roll and you see the darker side. the side from bellow is dark. my grandfather call them black icebergs and he told me the only way to see them at night is with the mirroring of your ships lights – Again, sorry for my English.

Still, I’m quite sure that they can be detected with a normal radar. Visual detection might be more difficult as you say, though.
